Erno Enkenberg is a 42-year-old painter and visual artist from Espoo who currently based in Helsinki, Finland. Erno received his MA from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2010. His artistic process involves paper models, photography and painting. Enkenberg depicting an imaginary world in which adults have disappeared without a trace, and children have been left to their own devices. In the fantasy world of the paintings, children are cultivating a garden, learning about the bygone world in libraries and reading the constellations, trying to build a bridge between history and their present reality. Erno’s paintings begin as paper models, which he arranges into something that looks like a miniature film set.
At the background of my paintings is an interest towards science, knowledge and information. Recently I have been interested in astronomy, human evolution and decay of information. I am looking answers for fundamental questions: where we come from, who we are and what is the universe like. Paintings themselves are not offering any answers, but they are tracing scientific activities that are trying to provide answers those questions.
